Mercury Glass Chandelier Lamp DIY

hello friends, today I want to share a super easy DIY. As all of  you know I've been remodeling my home and as part of that I repurposed and upcycle much as I can what I have or if I find some goodies thrifting around. Well, here is my staircase chandelier, which hasn't been dusted since it went in over 10 years ago. I know, I'm so embarrassed, it's just way to high and there is no ladder at my house; we actually borrowed one to work this past weekend on this. So here she is

not bad, just super dirty and the frosted glass which is... very dated I must say

after some cleaning...

for the base I used flat black rustoleum spray paint

after reading and watching multiple tutorials I began the " mercury glass " effect. I placed 50/50 water/ vinegar on a spray bottle and sprayed the inside, then sprayed with black spray paint very light layer, I did want a faded vintage look so I dabbed with a cloth to take chunky pieces of paint off.

After it was dry, I flipped and the did the same but instead of black paint I used the mirror spray paint. Light layers alternating and dabbing and here is the end effect

close up

and here is the base nice and dry, no shine or gloss which I love!!

here it is all assembled

just love how it turned out!! love my mercury glass chandelier!!

and fyi it doesn't affect the illumination at all. As you can see paint is in process and the ceiling has beautiful shiplap installed, which I will share in detail on my next renovation update.

So, who likes the lamp?? any questions do ask.
