Pilar is a 39 year old designer and economist based in Barcelona, Spain. She began studying fashion design, but after 10 years in the business she decided to study Economics; she explains: "due to my position I had to be very close to the buyers and managers and I had to control the money and percentages we had to profit."

A classic Scorpio, Pilar is not a typical shopper and she finds it difficult to find products she likes. So, one day searching the web in an attempt to find original handmade products she stumbled upon Etsy and she says: "since that time, this became one of my favorite sites because there I found amazing artists and lovely products." She began making products for her personally and received positive feedback all around so, she began her shop to share her creations with more people. Her Etsy shop or project as she calls it is El Rincon de la Pulga. It took her 8 months to get it started, but here one can find handbags, clutches, coin purses, necklaces, bracelets, rings. Pilar works with all kinds of materials and patterns like cotton fabrics, resins, leather, plastic, wood, satin, felt, computer keyboards. Also, her love for bright and vivid colors is easily seen on her unique creations. She says: "I use all that I can find helpful, depending on the bag or item I want to make at the moment because some materials require you to work with a variety of shapes and sizes." Since she is currently connected to the world of fashion, she says her Etsy shop allows her to express all that she likes. Some of her high seller items are:

Now where does Pilar find inspiration for all these unique pieces?? She says: "I do what I like! What travels and places give me; the colors, spirit, the people. Sometimes the beach, the sun and just calming down inspires me too."

The best marketing strategy Pilar has used to promote El Rincon de la Pulga has been by promoting non-stop via various social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Etsy Lush, Squidoo and wherever there's an opportunity to add the link to her shop. However, promoting with large fan based blogs is in the horizon; she says: "currently promotion is very difficult,  because people always go to shops that they know and only a few would try a new artist/ handmade shop. I see a necessity for known artist or blogs with high stats to help out new artist." The best advise for new handmade artist is: "being a crafter or artist is lovely but very difficult, but I think everybody should share their likes."

What does HANDMADE mean to you??
"For me handmade it's all, is a way to express what I feel and I enjoy and share with others my likes. I’m happy when I create, so I hope that this project will last for many years and the new items I’m preparing for next month be more fun as to have people give another view of my shop.

Vacation: When I have time I love to travel and I adore sharing with people their culture and interests. I’ve traveled all around the world, USA, China, India, Cambodia a lot of other Asian countries and all the European countries.
Materials: Cotton fabrics, prints, resins, leatherette, plastic, wood, satin, felt, computer keyboards and all that I can be helpful.
Colors: All light colors, I love the colors of India, red orange, green, purple, pink. I can say I’m an addict of Indian colours.
