Hello friends!
Let start with the most basic tourist activity, museum visiting. Here are some of the photos from Mardi Grass World, Cabildo / Louisiana State Museum
I added the museums websites above; Mardi Gras World was fun. One gets to see the artists working on the Mardi Gras floats and props and the talent is amazing. There was no one there, so we pretty much had the place to our self. Here is a glimpse of what you get to see...
here is the front, it's like a warehouse by the port and they even gave me a complimentary king cake slice 😋 yumm.
The next photos are from the Cabildo/ LA State Museum. There were 2 buildings with multiple floors and absolutely worth it. There was so much to see and learn. Here are some photos relating to the history of Mardi Grass, the costumes, cultural influences, etc. as you can see the art work, hand detail is just amazing.
there was a section dedicated to Katrina history... I remember this clearly and it still pulled hard on my heart and made me think of Maria in PR.
the rest of the exhibits covered general local history...
paper mache art...
more mardi gras art...
My husband and myself enjoy very much museum hopping and this is just part one, next week will share the plantations visit and museums part 2.
Have a great weekend.
