hello friends!
Today I wanted to share a simple home project / diy. I bought this little stool at an antique fair almost 5 years ago...
it's "granny chic" vibe was hard to resist, but it lived mostly I on my closet and hardly got used. Well, with the renovation, of course I've been cleaning out and getting rid of a lot of "stuff" that I've hoarded and hardly use. When I came to this little piece I decided to give it an update and here are the photos of the process...
first, who went crazy with the tacks?? Sure was fun removing all of these, not!!! 🤣
but I must say, absolutely love this cross stitch and will re-purpose it, you will see soon enough.
OK, this was a bit gross, but not surprised.
look at all those holes 😬
I used my favorite chalk paint Dixie Belle color Fluff which is an antique white.
After 1st coat I knew those holes needed some help...
The best wood filler in my humble opinion 👌
After the second coat of paint, the piece was ready for a protective sealant and what better than Dixie Belle's Gator Hide; its easy to apply, which I did with that tiny sponge and very durable.
Look at the difference...
Of course a new cushion was needed, so I made a small poly-fill pillow and some cotton batting...
stapled in placed and ready for the cover.
I chose this gorgeous fabric to keep with the "granny chic" vibe...
even had a little helper who approved of my 1st pick. Well, sad to say, the dear husband vetoed the fabric choice 😭
So, I gave it a "MsBitty" vibe and...
now I have some whimsy, some granny chic in a "neutral" color to please the hubby. Talk about a triple win, yay!!
Added some shiny tacks for added bling...
in order to cover the staples holding the fabric, I glued this fun hoot ribbon.
My little whimsy stool is now a huge cutie next to all the dark furniture and I absolutely love it!! I mean really, talk about character!!
Well, hope you enjoyed the photos and due share your thoughts.
