wood trunk makeover

Hello friends!
Today I wanted to share the beautification of this wood trunk. This piece has been an absolute ugly duckling since I first saw it (it's actually my hubby's) he had it by his bed and first chance I got I put it in a closet where no one could see it, since the man refuses to get rid of it.
Well, since even now he continues attached to it, I just had to do something with it, sooooooo...
First off, forgot to take a true before photo

but on the lid it had an almost flat floral cushion and had a wood trim on the bottom. I took all that off along with all the harware, in the process the bottom got all yucky so I replaced it with some scrap plywood, covered all the holes and commence the paint.

I used chalk white and linen from Annie Sloan.
Also decided to add some proper legs and some prettier trim

Inside the lid I stenciled a french poem, the stencil is from Cutting Edge Stencils and just love it!!

Now, I had some decals from Prima Marketing I had bought at Amazon a while back and was dying to try and check it out

little close up

so since it took on a vintagy, shabby chic, french style on it's own I decided what better fabric than the script fabric I used for my first wingback chair, see the latest post here

and forgot got these little metal embellishments at hobby lobby  and just look too cute

I'm still waiting for a small metal key plate that I bought on Ebay to be officially done, so when I get it which hopefully will be this week I'll share the officialy finished photo on my next renovation update. Sooo, what do you all think???
