Lamp makeover...DIY...

hello friends!
Today, I have a photo heavy DIY tutorial. I purchased these lamps back in 2019, new for $6 each on clearance, yay! Originally got them for re-selling, however things have changed and I decided to keep them, so here we go....
First, tape off the light area and cords.

I decided to paint them both the same color base and chose this light brown.

Once they are fully covered and dry, I covered the top metal part and painted the base with the color chosen;  "rock" spray paint from Krylon seen below...

love the added texture and is a light color.

Sprayed it little by little and just love the end result.

Now, just as the lamps were different, so were the shades; not only on color but one is slightly larger width too 😟

Got this beautiful fabric from Joanne's at 50%off 1.5 yards

Saw a tutorial on YouTube on how to do this part, just do a general search and you will see. I marked the inside of the fabric with a pencil and rolled the shade and gave an inch extra all around and don't forget to iron the fabric.

Now, I did the watered glue/ mod podge option and will discourage people from doing it. If I ever have to do this again I would use fabric glue spray better.

I used paper clips to fold the tops...

I began on the mid union of the actual piece...

...generously applied watered glue mix and slowly followed the border I had lightly marked inside the fabric. This was tedious and slow going.

Now, the reason why I advise against it, the next day, some hard bubbles appeared 😲 I was able to smooth some with the iron and some fabric glue, but that's why it's a double thumbs down 👎👎 don't make my mistake.
Now the top and bottom, I used fabric glue,  double folded and tucked in. Again, very slow going, tedious and ended up with multiple finger burns, ouch!

Now, before I show the end result, I went through all this because the baby lamps I currently have are just that baby lamps next to my giant bed, they just didn't match and looked bad.

Here they are....

...was originally going to add a tassel trim but it really doesn't need it and they look fabulous! Look at the master now...

Perfect balance and the minimal size variation is not even noticeable.

Even with the little misshapen, they came out great, give the room the balance needed and go with the overall style.
So, share your thoughts and if you do one yourself please share.
